Total Lunar Eclipse – 15-16th June 2011

AbhiShri | | Saturday, June 18th, 2011

Astronomical events are always special… some for their charm, some for their rarity. Total Lunar Eclipse, though may not be rare and as charming as – perhaps one of the most beautiful astronomical events – Total Solar Eclipse; it still has it’s own charm and importance, especially for the astronomers.

Night of 15th-16th June 2011 saw decade’s longest Total Lunar Eclipse visible from throughout India. Though quite cloudy weather, we few Akashmitras (Akashmitra is an amateur astronomers club from Kalyan, Mumbai) took a chance to watch the eclipse – thanks to Shishir Deshmukh for his persistence.

Amidst a very mix weather condition of clouds, rains, clear skies; we managed to get a glimpse of eclipsing and eclipsed Moon.

Here are few shots, which are really nothing more than record shots… especially that of a Totality.
