Trek to Ajoba Hill

AbhiShri | | Monday, April 11th, 2011

Summer, you all will agree, isn’t a best time to trek in deciduous forest hills in Sahyadri. However, sometimes, when the company is great, you don’t really think of what the weather condition is.  Shishir – one of best friends – and I had not trekked together since Oct 2008 and hence decided to trek together – along with Amogh (new entrant to trekker fraternity) to a long pending “Ajoba hill”. We had seen this huge hill from Harishchandra gad, Ratangad, Kulang gad in the past but never ventured a trek there until recently.

Date – 10.04.2011

Route – Kalyan-Asangaon (by train – 35 min) – Shahapur (by rickshaw – 3 km) -Dolkhamb (by bus – 30 km) – Dehne (by jeep  – 12 km)

Weather – Partly cloudy in the morning. Clouds cleared with lot of haze on the horizon. Extremely humid weather.

Duration – about 1.5 hrs till Aashram. Further 1 hr to reach “Seete cha palna”

Potable water – Available

Best season to trek – Winter

Shelter – Can be made in aashram area
