Visit to a Paradise!!

Ever since I trekked Harishchandra Gad in 1998, the Malshej Ghat region has always been close to my heart. My friend (D.V.Gaykar aka DaViGa) used to add to it by describing the monsoon glory of Malshej ghat in his typical poetic way. I love 3-4 weeks post-monsoon and always feel like visiting the hilly region of Sahyadri during this short period.  During my last weekend’s visit to the base village of Harishchandra Gad (Khireshwar), to the company of mammoth hills  there were passing clouds, dwindling but attractive waterfalls, variety of birds symbolizing the start of birding season, some vibrantly colored flowers & insects on a green carpeted land of mother earth…Cool breeze passing over the Khireshwar dam had joined the party. The whole nature seemed to be in a perfect harmony. The entire scene was so energizing…I was totally lost…I wasn’t me :).  Deep in my mind, I was listening to only one song…Man Udhan Varyache!

For laymen, it’s nothing more than a connecting route from Mumbai to Ahmadnagar/Pune. For young generation, it’s a famous monsoon picnic spot. And for avid trekkers/ nature lovers’, it’s Sahyadri’s Paradise!!!
